1. Choose A Theme

While a playful design is sure to amuse your little one, one that pleases the parents too is a winning combination. From animals, to fairies, to nature-inspired nurseries, choose a theme that you enjoy and one that will fosters your child's play and imagination. Whether inspired by the little one’s name or your love of a certain animal, designing the nursery is the perfect time to tap into your childlike senses and let your creativity run loose. And, of course, choosing one at the onset will help keep you on track.

2. Pick A Statement Piece

Choose a sophisticated yet stylish statement-making piece as the focal point of the room. An eye-catching light fixture, a bold patterned rug, or a vintage leather rocking chair are things that make a conventional nursery fun and unique for you and your baby.

3. Invest In Storage

Before you know it, your baby will be growing out of the crib and out of some of their toys. Your big investments should be in storage pieces like a dresser, chest or bookshelf that will be used for a long time. Additionally, a beautiful storage piece can keep your little one’s things in order and out of sight and if placed high enough, out of their mouths!

4. Add Textures And Pops of Color

You can always decorate a neutral nursery with pops of color. Dress up your windows with pretty drapery, choose colorful patterned bedding or even wallpaper an accent wall in a colorful, lively pattern. A nursery is a great place to accessorize with texture, greenery and fun visuals for the imagination as well. We love soft textured poofs because little ones can prop themselves up as they begin to stand and crawl.

5. Think DIY

There are many places to shop and fun DIY projects for your baby nursery so that you don’t have to break the bank. Whether you want to create your own hanging mobile, do an IKEA hack a on piece of furniture, or paint a secondhand crib, the ideas are endless and can help you same money.
