Get The Look of Meg Ryan's NYC Loft
We always love celebrity home makeovers and Meg Ryan's NYC loft featured in November's issue of Architectural Digest is no exception. Her newly renovated SoHo home is stunning, with gorgeous industrial elements that are perfectly mixed with reclaimed furniture and chic period pieces. The neutral color palette carried throughout the loft helps add continuity to the overall beauty and screams magazine-worthy.
Her living room, in particular, is a show-stopper - so much so that we asked Decorist designer Ellice Condon to take over the blog today and give us tips on how to recreate Meg's decor. Meg Ryan, YOU’VE GOT STYLE! Take a peek into Meg’s living room and see how it comes across as beautifully finished, but not over-designed. Below are a few tips recreating this polished SoHo vibe with finds from some of my favorite sources.
Start With A Simple & Elegant Color Scheme
The main colors carried throughout Meg’s loft are black, cream and white. This creates a clean and neutral backdrop that can then be layered with shades of rich mahogany, silver, and beige. A pop of green is a welcome touch with giant fiddle leaf fig trees.
By keeping your palette clean and neutral, you can make bold design choices such as dark and moody walls and trim without overwhelming the space. Provide relief from one room to the next by alternating between light and dark; a white bathroom off of a dark hallway, a black dining room off of a white kitchen.
Mix Vintage With High End
The key to this look is to create a feeling of livable elegance. In the office - pair a vintage desk with a classic leather club chair, in the kitchen - Carrara marble countertops with salvaged industrial pendant lighting. The combination keeps things down-to earth and comfortable.
Collect & Layer
The basis of any well executed design is an overall vibe that feels collected, sought, loved and layered. Pieces that feel purposeful and functional, and items that reflect the heart & soul of those who live there.
