Small Space Bachelor Pad Gets A Makeover On A Budget
When recent college grad James moved into his very first apartment in San Francisco, the only common space in his tiny apartment was the small dining area. James needed help to transform that space into a functional hang out area. He wanted a cool, casual modern bachelor pad that exped his personal style. His challenge? A very small space and $1,500 budget.
Of course, we couldn’t wait to give James a sophisticated re-design. Decked out in comfortable yet dashing decor and filled with masculine furnishings, this stylish bachelor pad should not be missed. See how our Decorist designer gave James’ new space an affordable, handsome upgrade.
The Design Criteria
With the start of a new job and a long commute, James didn't have time to design his new apartment. He wanted something easy, affordable and 100% online. James decided to reach out to Decorist to transform his small dining space into a comfortable yet cool hangout area, keeping in mind his budget and his busy lifestyle. It was clear that a strategic floor plan was needed to maximize the small space.
Before The Transformation
Before starting, the space was a blank canvas. James' old college furniture was just not quite polished or functional enough for the look he wanted in his new life and space.
The Final Design Concept
James' designer created two concepts for him to review. James worked closely with his designer through our convenient chat feature to develop a final plan he loved (above).
Mark of a New Chapter
No frat-house vibes here. A mix of modern and eclectic pieces, with plenty of style and just a hint of masculinity, were used for James’ first grown-up abode. Charming yet sophisticated wall art and modern decor items paired perfectly with the feel of a city bachelor pad. The texture of the cowhide rug and eye-catching leather armchair gave the space a bit of a rugged, mid-century modern look. A neutral color palette along with potted plants created the warm and inviting atmosphere while hints of metallic provided a touch of luxurious glimmer.
For functionality, the space was designed with clean lines, using modern furniture pieces that wouldn’t overcrowd the space. Easy-to-care-for materials were used for the sofa and chairs. Additionally, the two small coffee tables offered plenty of space to entertain guests and could do double-duty as extra seating if needed.
With affordable luxury and sophistication, the revamped space marked a new chapter of James’ life—and proves that a stylish bachelor pad can indeed be achieved affordably.
